I'm Obsessed with Sunsets

2024 AR, Video Art, Collage

I'm obsessed with sunsets, which started as research for visualizing one minute as an image that embodies the concept of time using skies, eventually transforming into a moving collage of different images of sunsets and skies. Consisting of various patterns, shapes, and colors, these aggregated pieces of images of the sky show the passing of time and how fragmented our perception of time is.

I study concepts of temporality using time-based media, blending traditional collage techniques with video art and augmented reality. By layering images with video art, I am interested in blurring the boundaries of the real and the perceived and discovering what lies between technology and traditional media.

At the exhibition, visitors could scan a QR code placed next to the artwork, that opened the Adobe Aero app to activate the AR experience. Once the app detected and aligned with the physical collage of sunsets, the augmented reality (AR) video would activate, causing the skies of sunsets within the collage to move and transform, creating an immersive and playful visual experience.
